Washington Lodge
The Washington 17 Past Masters Club is renewing the “Wed. Shut-in Visitation” while we are dark. This evening the Past Masters and friends will visit Jim Hammonds (Wed, July 28) at 7pm. Meet at Take 5 on Tylersville Rd to travel there at 6:50. We will finish the evening at the officers club. See you there!
Tom Dawson, PM, travels to New Zealand. The Master and Brethren of Phoenix Lodge # 43 welcomed me with open arms. I even sat in the “inner guard” chair and gave the Ohio Apron Lecture.
Brethren,
We have received word, through his grandson, that Bro. James Bradley is in Hospice, on Eaton Ave.
Fraternally,
Matt Reed, PM
Bro. Shawn Campbell is in Mercy South with Heart trouble. We wish him and his family the best and please keep them in your prayers.
Tonight is our first in series of fundraisers at local dining establishments. Ryan’s Tavern in downtown Hamilton will be donating 10% of your food bill to Washington Lodge just for mentioning the lodge. If you can please try to stop by between 5pm and 9pm.
I say fist because, our Senior Steward Jamie Issacs has arranged similar events with both Applebee’s located in Hamilton. Please visit www.washington17.org/fundraisers
Brethren, a fun time was had by all last night at “Hamiltucky Night.” The relaxed evening brought out a few new faces as well as some bib overalls. The evening concluded with a tour of the boiler room to view the new boiler.
Oh, and it included a repair of our treasurer’s bib’s!
The best part of the new boiler…
Brother, Masonry means much more
Than the wearing of a pin,
Or carrying a paid up dues receipt
So that the lodge will let you in.
You can wear an emblem in your coat,
From your fingerflash a ring,
But if you are not sincere at heart
This doesn’t mean a thing
It is merely an outward sign
To show the world that you belong,
To that great fraternal brotherhood
That teaches right from wrong.
What really counts lies buried deep
Within the human breast,
Till Masonic teaching brings it out
And puts it to the test.
If you practice out of lodge
The things you learn within,
Be just and upright to yourself
And to you fellowmen.
Console a brother when he’s sick,
Assist him when in need,
Without a though of personal reward
For any act or deed.
Walk and act in such a way
The world without will see,
That only the best can meet the test
Laid down by Masonry
Be always faithful to your trust
And do the best you can.
Then you can promptly tell the world
You’re a Mason and a man!
